What a year this has been !! Rain, rain and then more rain. The vegetable garden became just like a badly maintained lawn. It looked an impossible task but with the aid of the trusty rotary hoe and lots of hard work (and some inventive language) things gradually returned to some normality. The rotary hoe has a mind of its own - preferring to go in straight lines or stay still and dig deep holes from which it was only retrieved with superhuman (well ALMOST - shall I say super-pensioner) effort. When, and IF it gets to the end of a row it has to be bodily lifted around or it will happily career through the fence or whatever else happens to be in its way.

What a job!
rather you than me! I would have given up ages ago and got someone else to do it for me!!

it looks good now though
and just wait till all those shoots come bursting through, ready for all the slugs and greenfly to have a feast! But its all worth it in the end! We're still digging up carrot and beetroot, and the raspberries are still going too.
