My roommates and I head to Kerala today! This is going to be our first big test as a group. We have basically nothing planned out—we are taking a bus to Kochi and have no idea what we will do after that. It will be complicated by the fact that it is a holiday week and a lot of hotels and stuff will be booked. We know we want to take a boat tour of the backwaters and go to the beach. The rest is up in the air. Overall though, I think it will add to the adventure. I know we are going to get cranky and frustrated with each other, but I think the memories we will have from going out and doing this trip on our own will be worth it. It would have been a lot easier to hire and tour guide and have everything planned out for us, but that is not what an adventure is about. We will get back and feel a sense of accomplishment and independence no matter what happens along the way. It will also be our first extended amount of time outside of Bangalore. We’ve just been on weekend trips to Pondicherry and Mysore. These places were nice, but I know that there is still so, so much more to see. I am excited to go out and see what the rest of India is all about!

you went to Kochi? I have relatives there. I was there a year and 8 months ago. Man. Crazy. Let me know how that goes!
