It seems my run of bad luck isn't over yet. Just after I blogged we went to the station to get the train. It was a 2 minute walk from the mini bus to the train and in that time i managed to have my camera and all my yuan stolen (300 quids worth). So.....don't be expecting any pics any time soon! Hopefully the guys on the tour will send me some pics and I'll pick up a camera in Beijing.

On a much better note Mongolia has been amazing. We had 2 nights at a Ger camp and are staying tonight in the capital Ulaanbaatar before catching the train in the morning to Beijing.

We arrived at the camp at 9am, put our bags down, I turned around and saw my friend Malcom walking towards me! We didn't know we were staying at the same camp. It was pretty good to see a familiar face. 😊

The scenery at the camp was spectacular. Vast would be another good word. We visited a Nomad family up the valley a little which was fascinating and went horse riding too! I don't think my lessons did me any favours but it was tremendous fun. The Gers we stayed in were amazing, they felt very authentic after seeing how the nomads lived. It had a stove in the centre which kept us warm and a shower block near by. They provided 3 meals a day at the camp, all traditional Mongolian food which was excellent (although i need to say i don't want to see anymore mutton). I honestly don't have a bad word to say about the place and would happily go back again.

It really is a totally different way of life in Mongolia, Gers are almost the norm even in the cities. I kinda thought seeing the nomad way of life at the camp would be like visiting a living museum but it wasn't. An amazing experience.

Things are looking up....
