hi everybody. we're in the melaka at the moment, a really pretty town with probably the best food we've had so far, a mix of malaysian, chinese, indian and indonesian cuisine. we left kuala lumpur on thursday after watching most of the ireland match on wednesday night. the match started at 1 in the morning but the pub closed up at 2.45 with about 5 mins left. we were quite upset and no matter how much pleading we did the people working there wanted to go home, oh well at least we didn't miss any goals.

melaka is a really cool place, very laid back atmosphere with friendly people. on our first night here we met an english guy called michael from york out drinking with his malaysian friend sam. the next day was sam's birthday so we went out drinking with them again on friday night. michael has been teaching here for the past year, the first time he met sam he was a down and out living on the streets. michael got him a job in an organic food shop/cafe (where we went for our detox on friday and saturday morning/afternoon) and now he's got his life back

on track. very nice guys although sam told me that i look like one of the bee gees.

one night when we were out we went to a restaurant and noticed that some of the customers were sitting at tables surrounded by water. we went over to have a look and saw that there were loads of little fish swimming about. it turns out that the fish were feeding from the dead skin from their feet. it cost about a euro each to do it so we thought why not try it? (although i thought afterwards that they should have paid us for feeding their fish) it was a very weird sensation, very ticklish at first and then it felt like pins and needles in our feet. they seemed to prefer my feet to triona's, they probably prefer smelly feet. i think these are the fish that troy mcclure mentions in the simpsons episode where he marries selma. went to see wall-e in the cinema yesterday which we enjoyed, probably pixar's best film since monsters inc. also we got to see liverpool beat man-u which was great. tomorrow we leave for a small island off the east coast called pulau tioman, we've been looking at pictures on the internet and it looks great.
