School, as it turns out, is not hard... yet. I imagine that it will be and very soon too. From what I hear, people who go to my school are loaded down with homework and have to do loads of tests all the time. Kids come from all around Estonia to come to this school because of how fantastic it is. I am taking my classes and I am not really understanding most of it yet I am getting there.
I have found my dream class! I have a BRITISH STUDIES CLASS!!! How freakin amazing is that?! I get to learn about all of Great Britain! While in Estonia. Fantastically beautifully marvelous! My teacher in that class is hilariously too! He is so animated! Like someone else you know... no hints to who that is. 😊 So I had to buy a book that cost about 20$ (club is paying for it yah!!!) Now I will have a book to take back home and read about all of Great Britain!
There is a really cute guy here and I got to sit by him in my English class. My teacher in English has me do almost every translation because the English that is taught is British English, not Australian or American English so it is difficult and more confusing than you would think. Anywho, so I sat next to this cute boy and the topic of choice that my teacher made us (the entire class) read about was marriages, relationships, outer appearance, what is most important in relationships and laughter. Try to keep the conversation light and entertaining when you are forced to talk about that stuff. We both just kind of barely answered the stuff we had to and then giggled awkwardly. It was nice that I know who he is now and now I can ask him about random "school stuff". :D
There is a guy I know from Australia that is here and has been for about seven months. I hadn't seen him for a while and when I did the other day, I was so excited and I exhaled loudly. He asked me if I was alright and I was yet it was just nice to see a familiar face in the sea of unknown. There was nothing wrong at that moment yet I was just so relaxed and gleeful in that moment, it was unbelievable. It is going to be crazy when I come back and have that with loads of people! I have taken care of most of my visa stuff so I will defiantly have it by the three months time! (I hope.)
My headmaster doesn't speak English very well and so I talk to the vice headmaster more often. I run into him quite a bit actually. It is rather odd. He is an interesting man and he loves helping me with anything. I don't know why yet it is helpful and peculiar. One thing that I have noticed that Estonians do is nod and say mm-hm loads! Even when you are in the middle of speaking or just finishing a statement, they nod and say mm-hm a few time until you have ended. It is funny and odd, yet cool nonetheless.
I have been here five and a half weeks and this weekend I get to take off school Friday and travel to the island I might live after Christmas! Saaremaa! OH! I bought something the other day and I didn't need a translation! I was so excited! The woman asked me if I had a card at that store and I replied no in Estonian, and then paid her the money and walked out with my change, my item and my confidence boosted LEVELS!!! I was so excited! It doesn't sound like much yet I was on cloud nine for some time afterwards.
Over hear, I find myself compelled to listen to classical music, jazz and old 20s music so much, it is crazy. (If you have a minute, when I was writing this I was listening to Happy Feet by Paul Whiteman so you should listen and experience it with me!) Maybe it is the fact that I am reading Pride and Prejudice. Or the fact that the scenery kind of reminds me of musical spots in movies. I don't know. I like it though.
I have cello lessons officially here now. They cost about 60$ a month and I like the teacher quite a bit. She speaks only Estonian yet she gives me music and thank god it is in Italian so we can understand each other no matter what she says in Estonian, she just points to the paper and I read the Italian part. Italian is how most music is written and most music is international so I am fortunate there.
So I am left wondering just how different life really is this past week or so, and my reply is... unbeknownst to the writer! There you have it! I hope you have just been craving my newest addition to my memoirs online of my decadent life in Estonia, and that this has satisfied your hunger for my life! xD
