Pedestrian

My feet are black. I may have only owned my jandals for a week but they have a month’s worth of miles on them already. I am truly pedestrian. I have not rented a bike and I don’t want to rent a motorbike - I can hardly afford it anyways - despite it being the most common mode of transportation here. So I walk or run, depending on how much time I have to get to where I am going and if it’s ok for me to be sweaty when I get there or not. All in all I don’t mind it too much, but it gets tiring sometimes. My new place is 5 miles from the main town and even walking to Muri beach takes a solid 25 minutes. Not that bad until you have to go back and are carrying groceries. The exercise is good though. On an island with basically two roads aside from the ones connecting them, and a perimeter of only 20 miles, you can walk. I just hope I don’t get blisters…

Jandal?
is that a special kind of sandal or was it a typo? kinda weird if its a typo since "j" and "s" are kinda far from each other on the keyboard

Jandals
Jandals = Sandals = Flipflops I think it's an Aussie phrase, but it's pretty universal down here. Call them anything else and there will be a pause as they interpret.
