I woke up a little late today. I was supposed to meet my friend Buck (chill dude from LA) to head out to Dachau, the first and model concentration camp for the Nazis. That's where they basically ran the whole concentration camp system and trained Nazi and SS officials on how to run the concentration camps.

I rushed to get up, got ready, got some food real quick. Unfortunately though, when I saw Buck, he told me Dachau was closed on Mondays. Damnit! Of all the days to be the ONLY one to be closed, it had to be Mondays. Had I known, I would've done that yesterday and done the free city walk tour today. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20.

I decided I wasn't going to waste the day, so I just wandered the city. My first destination was the Deutches Museum. It's the equivalent of Munich's Smithsonian (the museum we have in Washington D.C.). I saw a lot of stuff ranging from marine technology, energy techonology, aviation, etc. to physics, nuclear energy tech., etc. It was pretty interesting, but A LOT of the stuff I found most fascinating didn't have any English explanation cards. That was a bit frustrating to say the least, but then again I was in Germany, so I should've learned some before going there haha.

From there I wandered the streets for a bit then headed to the English Gardens. Luckily, this time there were people surfing. According to the walk guide yesterday, American soldiers started this and the Munich guys kept it going. Anyways, I had a beer and a pretzel and people watched for a while. Definitely saw some characters. Anyways, from there I walked to an area I had seen in the walking tour. The guide had mentioned that about a km from the spot that looked like the place in Florence, there was where Hitler did all of his speeches. I thought that'd be pretty cool to find. Knowing the crazy history that went on there. I don't know if I just passed it and didn't notice, but no area I passed seemed like it would've been conducive to speeches in front of that many people. Except one area, but I don't think that was it.

By this point, my feet were startin' to hurt so I scurried back to the hostel. While there, hanging out with Buck, I met a girl Katie. We lounged around in the Wombat's common area. After a while we got hungry and went to get some pizza. Damn, it was REALLY good. From there, Katie and I went to the Augustiner beer garden. Buck doesn't drink, so he wasn't really interested in going. Anyways, Katie and I had a couple beers, some good convo, and some pretzels.

After a while, we decided to head back to the hostel. We hung out for a bit, then I went to bed. I figured if I got up early, I could still see Dachau AND catch a train to Amsterdam.
