Entrance to Angkor Wat - build 1112-1152
I arrived safely in Cambodia on the evening of 18th July. The first two days (19th and 20th), I visited temples including Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphuon, Ta Prohm etc etc and the waterfall at Kbal Spean.

The first day I hired a guide and a moto (motorcycle with carriages attached). Within half an hour we had a puncture and stopped another moto to ask if we could join. There was a Japanese girl on the moto and we did the trip together. My guide was a student and his English was not the best in the world. The Japanese girl spoke English but was struggling to understand my guide and I ended up being a translator!

The second day, I hired the same driver that had the puncture the first day, as I felt sorry for him especially as he was a nice guy. His bike broke down twice during our trip the second day, but it gave me a chance to speak to the locals. I felt sorry for him again and when we got back to the hotel I gave him a nice tip.

On the third day I went to the flooded forest

Sunrise over Angkor Wat
of Kompong Phhluk and the village. It was quite an experience to see how people live on the river. In the afternoon I had a well deserved one hour foot massage, which was needed after all the walking around the temples.

The fourth day 22nd July I was relaxing and reading my book before heading of to the capital phnom Penh on 23rd.

The group consists of minefield victims that try and make a living by playing music. I was generous and was asked to join the band. They obviously did not know, that I have no musical talent!

Hello from London
As I remember Angkor Wat well it was lovely to re-live the trip. Trust you to pick up an innocent Japanese tourist after 24hours though! Enjoy, Simon
