More of my costume
Yup I did that cool make up all by myself! Aren't we proud! I know, its been a long time. I would like to believe its because I was waiting for new pictures but really I was just too crazy to want to sit at a computer and write anything more than I had to. I am currently working on my many papers that are due in January. Well I say many but realy its only three. They should be a breeze seeing as how they are only about 10 pages long and my dissertation will be around 50 pages. I have mostly finished one paper, so that's exciting! yeah! I think it may have been my hardest one since it dealt complely with theory, which sucks. I'd much rather deal with hard facts.
Anyways, Halloween. Wow It was fun. They don't do anykind of dressing up like we do in North America. Everyone here is something scarry with lots of blood. Also lots of Firecrackers to scare away the evil spirits. You buy the firecrackers at the corner market for just a few pounds. On Halloween night it sounded like there was low level war fare going on. Now I know why they had banned fireworks here till only the last
Susie!
Did I forget to mention that Susie Visited! I meet her in Dublin and she came up to Belfast for a while. This is here with her first official Guiness in Ireland! couple of years when peace seems to be finally taking hold. I of course defied the rules of 'fancy dress' (Custume dress) and was a cosmopolitan fairy. Whcih essentially means I wore my black sparkly dress purchased somee fairy wings from a kids shop and put sparkly makeup on. It was great. Evan, in our house went as a blue crayon and Chris went as an awesome Edward Scissor hands. He had sveral people take pictures of him. I know I don't have a picture of him for the web.
For my birthday, oh YEAH!!! It was an event packed weekend. Friday, I went and Got a makeover done with a girl from San Fran. Then We all went Salsa Dancing. So great, except all the times my feet were stepped on. Oh well. Saturday we went Ice Skating. That was soo much fun. One of the best parts was getting there. ITs quite a bit out of the city, so we took a taxi there and then found the bus to get back. Strange though the DJ at the Ice rink, didn't have any music that was not on the top 40's list for the last five years.
Susie
With a guiness moustache! I tried to request ABBA. I was completly appalled. When I asked why he said the skate was for kids and kids don't listen to that type of music. Again I was shocked. This is an official request, please play oldies for your kids, whether you have them now or are not even thinking of them. Kids need to hear and love oldies like ABBA, The beatles, QUEEN. Am I right, am I right! I thought so.
Of course cake and desserts Yum!
Thanksgivng, was surely a blessing. We decided to celebrate the holiday on the Friday, since I had class late on thursday along with several others. ON Thursday morning, there were about 12 people coming, we were going to move the bed out of my room and put in a few tables and have a nice sit down dinner. Then by thursday night the number had gron to 22 people. WOW! I did have a moment of panic, then we decided that it would be a buffet, and we would move the beds out of Kedrics Double room. By this point whenever someone looked like they hadn't had thanksgiving dinner we invited them. Lets face it after
Susie and I at the Millenium Spire in Dublin
Popular nicknames for this 120 Meter tall stainless steel spike abound. SOme favorites are, the "Stiffy by the liffy" (The river running thru Dublin, the "nail in the pail" To hear more about it and see a proper picture go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spire_of_Dublin 14 people does it really matter how many people come as long as they bring food to share. ANy american I met who was a friend and didn't have a dinner ot go to came over to our house.
SO we had a great dinner. Chris special ordered a turkey for all the meat eaters, and got an extra chicken. I made yummy Challah, homemade cranberry sauce and Apple/peach crumble. We had really great eggplant stuffed with fruity couscous for the veggies. Of couse what would a thanksgiving dinner be without everything else. there was sweet potatoes, stuffing, mashed potatoes(ohh so many many mashed potatoes, we are still eating these left overs) Biscuits, gravy, salad, roast veggies and since our english pals couldn't imagine a roast dinner without it, some yorkshire pudding. Which was essentiallly a baked crepe. Yummy. then soo many deserts, sweet potato pit, apple/peach crumble, and marble cake and ice cream! Oh we were so stuffed. the besst part was ofcourse all the great people that came. It ended up being about 20 people. We even played a few games after dinner.
Also on that day I had an interview for a new job as
U2 Studios!?
Well if you didn't know it you would think some fisherman was cleaning up his latest catch in this shed, but no this is the newest recording studio for U2. a Student Gallery Assitant. ANd Guess What I got it! YEah. I prety much sit in the gallery at a desk and watch all the people walk through. I also mostly study. Essentially I am getting paid to study. Its sweet. This one is a definite keeper.
I hope this message finds all of you well!
