well my lovelys, i'm back in town. Was going to come home for a holiday, but immigration in tanzania caught up with me a little earlier than that and in no uncertain terms told me to get the hell out of TZ. Basically I was caught with out a proper work permit, even though I was 'volunteering' in their country, helping primamry build primary schools fascilities they desperately needed that their corrup inept government couldn't mover their arses to organise, I was not allowed to do so on the tourist visa I was on, and not so politely told to move on. So, I'm home.

Some background on what I do: I work for a company called Madventurer. They are Uk based sending volunteers out from all over the world to Tanzania (although this is where I was based, they work all over the show) to be fully immersed in tanzanian culture, being based very rurally building much needed classrooms, toilets, stores, craft workshops etc for primary schools, orphanages and the like. It is my job to coordinate the lot, make sure there is a house to stay in, a cook for the evenings (my culinary sckills are not quite up to par and this way volunteers are exposed to the local cuisine), a school to build in, a project to build, builders, i buy materials, play a multitude of role - leader, friend, mom, all round person to take the piss out of.

Every 5 weeks the project needs to change, the volunteers leave me and I get a whole new group and have to organise everything from scratch again. I LOVE it, nothing makes me happier in the world at the moment than to know that somehting I am directly involved in has something of such huge consequence to the people that touch my life.

I have been involved in building toilets, playgrounds, classroom/store/library since the beginning of the year. That was, until I was told to leave. stupid f*£%" immigration officials who I just refused to pay off. AAARRRRGGGGGGGGG it has caused endless tears the past few weeks, I had to say goodbye to some seriously special people, as well as to a life I had started to build for myself there. And so that's it then, I've come home, slept slept and slept some more, met up with a few friends, but all the time having TZ at the very front of all my thoughts. This year has so far pushed me further than I have ever needed to push myself. Weaknesses and strengths have been completely laid bare for me to see and work on. And for now i know, in moving on to another country, i'm going stronger, a better leader, and most importantly someone who i'm beginning to like more and more.
