Hola!

Today was a big day.

We visited two of the cities great cultural monuments, the hills of ´Cerra Saint Lucia´ and the ´Cerra San Cristobal´ which break free and tower above the concrete landscape of the surrounding Santiago.

There was nothing to inform us of the history of Cerra Saint Lucia, but there was a beautiful castle, statues and a perfect vantage point to view the city. It was interesting but unfortunate to see a thick cloud of stagnant smog hang over the city. Despite this the Andes tower abover the cities urge to progress and provide a stunning example of the magnitude of nature.

Next we visitied the Plaza Del Mar which is a beautiful and enormous Catholic church in the heart of the city. The cathedral walls are lined with stunning ephiges and actual confessional booths. Massess of Chileans come here to pray, being a staunchly catholic nation.

Finally we caught a Finicular to the pinnacle of the Cerro San Cristobal to see the statue of the Virgin Mary. This view provides the best views of Santiago from the quilted colours of Bellavista to the bustling sky scrapers of Providencia to the enormous Andes Mountian Ranges - The city is in the foreground of this photos, so I hope this puts into perspective just how grand the Andes really are.

That evening Sonya and I took in some live spanish guitar and accidentally ordered a bottle of wine instead of a glass, so we slept well that night.

Ciao.

The Andes around Santiago look phenomenal. I would ask for a piece of Andesite, but it's probably not worth you getting cavity searched when you try to re-enter Australia. Although the pictures you have taken of statues and architecture and statues are very nice, I would like to see more of the important stuff: rocks and food.
