Our resort on Koh Phangan.... oh dear though, there's a little cloud in the background...
Big apologies for being slack with our posts - we kinda got busy holidaying!

After surviving Goa (just!), we thought it wise to head to nicer beaches where our lives may not be in so much peril, and fun was the agenda of the day. The islands of Southern Thailand seemed to fit the bill.

There we were to meet with a long lost Pommy pal of ours, Ruth, and her friends Paul, Vicki, Cindy et al and check out Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Phi Phi and Krabi.

We were SOOO looking forward to 2 weeks with our distant friend. A friend that we barely ever see, that lives on the other side of the world, that we even altered all our travel plans, flying all the way from India, specifically to see. For days we couldn't sleep with the excitement, nervous energy played havoc with our systems (yes our bowels were one of these systems) and we were giddy with anticipation. A full moon party was beckoning us to party hard, and 2 weeks we were sure was just not enough time to have all the fun we wanted to have.

And no doubt our Pommy Pals were excited to get away from their drizzle soaked, grey cold country, and get some warmth and sunshine into their poor Vitamin D deprived skins.

2 weeks of paradise was awaiting us all.
Blue sunny skies made our days bright. Hot humid weather made us feel we were worlds away. Full moon parties bought out our best dance moves. Thai food made our stomach jump with joy. Ladyboy cabaret shows restored our faith in Tina Turner's talent. Cocktails and beer made think we were funnier than ever. And being upgraded to the most luxurious room in the hotel (for free) didn't seem to hurt anyone at all.

Perfect!!
Problem was, there was a rain shower... sorry, don't let me make light of it - there were two.
It was, to be fair to poor old Thailand, the early stages of the monsoon season - who were we to question Mother Nature's way??
But Ruth did.
Not happy that she came from one raining country to another - she up and left after only 1 week! That's right.... she packed her bags, changed her flights and left us high and dry in Thailand after only one week.

The weather looked like it was about to take a turn for the worse here - do you see that cloud??

We'll let you be the judge of whether this was a wise decision.
Our photos have not in any way been biased towards the ones with sunny clear skies - they are a fair and balanced representation of the weather for 2 weeks in Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi and Krabi.

You decide whether they acted in haste!

You never know when you may need to shelter from all the rain... or be just camouflaged for no particular reason

In my defense
I would like the brief opportunity to explain the legitimacy of my decision at the time, although perhaps perspective is a wonderful thing and if faced with the same decision I may not have been so hasty!!!! At the time of booking the homeward bound flights we were faced with an incoming CYCLONE that was heading towards us ( Elise and Soph really have played down this part!!) and after many many hours of research which lead us ALL to the conclusion that the cylcone was hitting Thailand and basically to save our LIVES , (and my precious days annual leave ) and return when the weather was slightly better. However, who knew the weather forcasters in Thailand are such lying b*stards ????? and the cyclone would swiftly change direction and head for Burma leaving beautiful sunshine for the ladies in Thailand??? And true to my word, just 4 weeks later I popped back on a plane to join in again for some more fun. Which I think we did remarkably well second time round !!!!!
