Hello from Cairns! Well we made it here from Townsville to some rain! Not so good considering someone stole my umbrella in Noosa! Trying to get Martyn to buy me a cool Roxy one, but hes not convinced....yet!
Staying in Gilligans, its a lovely hostel, back in a dorm which sucks but saves money which is badly needed this now! Our first day was spent at the Lagoon, poor Martyn is desperate for a day off sunbathing! We then had a badly needed night out, we headed to The Woolshed then moved to PJ O'Brians to watch the Celtic v Motherwell game. We met a nice Rangers supporter which is far a nd few between these days! After I had bought the biggest Pizza I could find I was dying to go to bed but Martyn was rather insistant we should go for a walk....I should have suspected something at that point!!! So we took a walk down to the Esplanade and well as the story goes Martyn got down on one knee and asked to marry him! Of course I said yes! I swear I was the happiest person alive. My feet havent touch the ground, so unexpected and
so perfect. We bought a 'temporary' ring the next day just what we can afford this now and once Marty starts making some money I think a trip to Tiffanys could be on the cards!!
We went out for dinner celebrate once we had bough the ring, which was lovely and a change from eating super noodles all the time! Then since I insisted it was my special day I made Martyn go to the cinema to see 'Made of Honour' it was pretty cool as they filmed some of it in Scotland and we seen the Bridge of Orchy, kept us amused anyway!!
The weather has been pretty good so I spent the majority of time either at the Lagoon, which is salt water so not as nice as the one at Airlie Beach, or by the pool in the hostel which is pretty cool.
We left for Port Douglas which is an hour or so further up the coast, on Wednesday. Stayed at Dougies hostel and they do free pick up from Cairns 3 times a week so that was pretty cool. The hostel was by far the best we have stayed in in OZ.
We were staying in a 'stylie' tent which is just a tent really but with 2 single beds in them so didnt need to sleep on the floor! It was so much fun having our own wee tent and only spotted one spider in it the whole time were there!!
As money is running out an a ridiculously fast rate we decided just to spend a few days up there chilling out and trying not to spend any money! The beach is gorgeous, its called 4 Mile Beach and strangely enough it is 4 miles long! So we spent a day there. There are still lots of Jellyfish in the weater here so had to swim in the stinger net enclosure, I prefer it cause the waves arent so big! The hostel had a great bar with a pool table and darts so we drank lots of jugs of beer and shakers with god knows what in them and had a jolly old time! They also had board games that you could use so we had all sorts of fun with Simpsons Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit ( Martyn won everyime!)
Ever since we left home Martyn has been
Port Douglas
Cards, what a suprise! wanting to go fishing, I keet pretending I can't hear him and hope he'll forget about it, but Dougies hostel had fishing rods you could use, so off we went giving up a lovely day at the beach to sit on some rocks fishing! It was actually very good fun and what a tan you can get sitting there! So Martyn was hoping to catch a black tipped shark as there are loads of them around but alas it was not to be he did however manage to catch a whiting! Not nearly so big but still exciting!!
Had such a great time in Port Douglas wish we had, had more time there and less in Cairns but didnt quite work out like that. So we are off to Ayers Rock tomorrow morning, so excited cant wait it will be great . Tonight we are watching the Rangers Vs Dundee Utd game......I'll cheer whoever scores but I have a feeling Martyn will not be and Rangers better win!! Oh and Happy Birthday to Christine 2 days ago and Alicia today, 21 again!!
Lots of Love xxxxxx
