Been a while I know but when you are as busy as us its hard to find the time sometimes............................ A lot Shorter this one you'll be glad to hear, although we're sure some of you pretend your doing work while reading these, ha ha !!!!!!!

Well I can safetly say we are looking more like travels every day with Jen wearing multi coloured fishermans pants and Dan's hair now that long he is thinking of having dreds and calling himself Raymond...........

We arrived in Ayutthaya the ancient capital of Siam (thailand). This city is full of ancient ruins dating back to the 13th century, Some are beautiful however most look like piles of rubble now, but you could imagine how grand they used to be. We potted around for a day on a push bike, it was like being one of the locals. We soon realised the bigger you are the more right of way you have, we almost got flattened several times. That was a paticularly bad day as dan walked into a bees nest and got stung several times and then road over several cheverons at high speed buckling his front wheel, as well as having

Giving the locals a few tips on shooting!!!
to cope with bangkok belly!!!!! We found out there was also plenty of wildlife around her as walking a long the street one evening an 8 foot snake slithered out in front of us and across the road, stopping all the traffic in its path.

5 days and several packs of antibiotics later and we were on our way to Chaing Mai, Northern Thailand. The old city was surrounded by a moat and a lot more chilled out than we thought it would be. There was loads of Cooking, massaging and painting courses to be done but there was also loads of trekking to the hill tribes villages and learning to be a masout (elephant rider). We did not do any of these however we wondered around the cities temples and palaces, which were very beautiful and different from the southern region as they were made out of teak instead of concrete. We visited the long neck Karen tribe who are migrants from Burma, from a young age the women have gold rings put around there necks stretching there heads from there body, which looked really perculiar but was facinating.
We also went to a muay thai fight which

All of the women have these put on from a young age........ How strange!!
was a little disapointing as none of the fights got passed the second round and to top it off there was a lady boy caberet as the grand finale.

Our last destination in Thailand was Chaing Khong on the Thai-Laos border which are devided by the huge Mekong River. We sat eating tea overlooking the Laos village of Houy Xai which intermittently kept having power cuts all night, we were starting to wonder what we were letting ourselves in for as we had already heard many stories about Laos and the food they eat.........dogs, snake blood soup etc. We will let you know what experiences they have in store for us soon.

Get me some of those!!
Hiya you two. Glad to hear you are both safe and still loving it. You cant expect to go half way around the world where there's not as good sanitation as here and not get the squits!! Come on, thought you would be proper hippie travellers by now - get those dreads done and a beard down to your knees, Jennie!! ha ha. Just wondered if those kneck things would fit round my ankles to make me a bit taller - only about 5inches - but 5inches makes all the difference eh!!!! Things ok here, still working in Mansfield might be up for promotion soon by moving back to manage Derby store, let you know on that one got to prove i can manage the responsibility!! Started Salsa dancing its wicked - love it! And joined a netball team at willows, not actually played yet but hoping to next week. Met someone, but fill you in on that in email, bit more private, can tell you all details then!!! Keep safe and carry on enjoying it - just had a payout from an accident claim so may join you soon if its in my budget!! See you soon, miss you, love ya xx
