Well, yesterday I had booked myself onto a diveboat and went for a days diving. I knew I was going to enjoy it as I had only been diving in England when the waters been like 7 degrees and the visability pretty terrible.
We set of as a group of 10 on a boat ride which took about 2hours to a different Island. Unfortunately we weren't very lucky with the weather at it was either cloudy or raining the whole day, well untill we got back to where we are staying, then it was sunny, my typical luck!!!!
Anyway, We did two dives in the day and also had a chance for some snorkelling in between. The guide took some pictures which was good as for some reason my camera wasn't working. The first dive we basically just saw a load of tropical fish, it was like being in Findng Nemo, very cool. On that dive we also had to keep very still as we saw a a massive sting ray, not cause we were particularly scared of it hurting us but they seem to be incredibly shy and even if you breath too hard and make too many bubbles it will swim away.
I have to say, one of the highlights of the day was actually the snorkelling inbetween the diving. The water is very clear with nearly 30m visibility and 25 degree temperature. During the snorkelling part we anchored just to the side of an island and the shore was covered in Sea lions and higher up a load of blue footed boodies. Cool!! So I dived in and the sea lions have been decribed as the golden retirevers of the Galapagos, and its so true. All they want to do is play. They will swim round you willing you to try and catch them, and they will lie on the bottom pretend they haven't seen you and then swim off when you come closer, they were so funny and kept me entertained for hours.
After luch we had our second dive. We drove to a different smaller island and this one had a bit of a current. It was better than the first dive as we saw more things. If anyone has watched Finding Nemo and remembers the bit when Dori and Marvin don't know which way to go and they ask a whole group of fish and

This is me preparing myself to roll backwards, which I have to admit, i'm not particularly good at!
they all move together, well thats basically what I saw at the beginning of the dive!! (Polly, that part was mostly directed at you, as I know more of your life is based on Disney based stories!!!) It was really cool as we swam through them and they didn't swim away but would just make a arch or when I extended my arm they worked together to make a hole where my hand had been. Incredibly hard to describe but it was very awesome.
On that dive we also saw some sort of shark but I have forgotton the name of it, not particularly big and again a very timid animal so you had to keep really still. Another much bigger stig ray whcih was about the size of me, all the tropical fish I saw in the fist dive and finally, a turtle (Bryony - I swear on my life that I said 'Bryony, says hi'!!!!! - it didn't respond but I think he appricated it!!!) which came right up to us and was simply swimming around. I think that was the true highlight of the day.
We then drove back to the main island and that was the end of the day. I had really enjoyed it and I am planning one more day of diving in a couple of days.

I went down to the harbour this morning just to have a look and a bit of a walk, and in typical Galapagos style, loungeing around on the rocks were loads of bright red crabs (the rocks are completely black so they stood out), loads of pelicans and some iguanas looking for breakfast!!! i think I will see more wildlife on my tour so I'm not particualrly going out of my way to look for it, but being in the Glapagaos you don't exactly need to look for the animals!
