When I get in a funky mood, and feel pissed about something, I like to write a list of things I love. It’s a nice way to appreciate the simple things in life that make you happy. I wrote this last week:
1. my current fingernail polish (adds a little sparkle to my writing routine)
2. my family and my home girls
3. Seeing old couples who wear matching outfits and hold hands.
4. When my cat sits on my lap when I use the toilet.
5. Tomatoes
6. Listening to music I have never heard
7. Hearing my brother play the guitar
8. The crusty outer edge of casseroles or pretty much anything
9. My mom and my brother’s laugh
10. When my dad says, “Observe Caution”
11. Scarfs
12. Giving and receiving head massages
13. my morning coffee
14. Breezy African nights
15. How clearly you can see the stars here
16. When Katelin finds me on g-mail and uses her computer prowess to send me a message thing.
17. Getting my dance groove on in a serious way.
18. Philosophical discussions
19. The sound of a dishwasher at night
20. The smell of foam
21. Eggplant Parmesan sandwiches
22. Tomato and mozzarella salad
23. Music exploration
24. Touching my toes
25. Chia pets and seeing a random commercial for them on TV (I wish I had one, they are so cool)
26. Crooked teeth
27. Big bear hugs
28. Fridays in Gambia (everyone gets dressed nice for mosque and places close early for prayers)
29. When people bury my feet in the sand
30. Making lists

Quote of the post:

You should check out Liberia.
Hey, I have only just started reading you blog and I already have sugestions for you. First of all, is that you need to see some of the most green parts of west Africa. The next one is that you should write shorter postings. May be you wont reply I have met a lot of Allisons and they are most of the time snobs, but hopefully you are not and I will get some response from you on my concerns and sugestion. I must say this posting of yours was good.

HI! Good to here from you and your suggestions. Have you been to Liberia? I would love to go and have been in touch with some organizations there, if you have any suggestions on where to work there it would be much appreciated. Sorry you've had bad run ins with Allisons, but we're not all alike. I only go by Ali. I tend to write long blogs per requests of my family and friends that I can't generally stay in contact with because of bad phone connections and crappy internet. But thank you for your comments, they are very much appreciated. Take care!
