This clock tower is in the old port on Montreal. It is one of our favorite landmarks in the city.
We love to travel! Doesn't everyone? We have visited much of North America, and some countries in Europe and Asia. Mostly, we travel on a restricted budget, so whenever possible, we camp. If camping is not possible, we try to stay in hostels or other unexpensive lodgings. This has led us to some interesting experiences which I may share with you.
Rather than proceed by road trips, I thought I'd manage my entries by countries, starting with our home country, Canada and our home province, Quebec.
We live quite close to Montreal which is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city of 1 million plus inhabitants. It is a vibrant city, home of an international jazz festival, world renowned symphony orchestra, numerous museums and art galleries, many sports venues as well as a successful business and trade center. It is also a major port on the St Laurence River.
Historically, it is one of the oldest settlements in North America having been founded in 1642. It's historic district, "old Montreal" is a must see especially in summer, when the cobbled streets are teeming with tourists and locals alike. If you stay out late enough, you might get to witness one
