Where we'll spend the day today
Well it is 9 days before the first day of the run (8 before the admin day - admin day is where they go through your pack - weigh it to ensure that itis above the minimum weight of 7kg, check that you have the mandatory kit items (alluminium blanket, signalling mirror, anti venom pump, knife, compass, topical disinfectant) and they will provide you with a flare - to signal your desire to quit the race (mine is going in the bottom of my bag never to be used!) and salt tablets. They also check to ensure that you have the mandatory daily food of 2000 calories per day (which weighed in about 0.5 kg per day when I weighed bine before I left to come to Thailand)).

So, we are nearly there, we are currently on taper (only running shorter runs less frequently) and that is when the madness commences, if you can imagine two caged bears - by the end of our time here that will ressemble Jonathan and myself. Generally when I am tappering for a run I resemble tigger - bouncing around the place!

But the nerves are definitely setting in - we are now

Nice to run without the pack
hitting the point where there is little else to be done, the training we have done has to be enough, our gear is pretty much sorted and the weather is our only worry! But when I think about it - 245km - in searing heat - I start to doubt myself, am I fit enough, have I trained enough, do I have the right equiptment. I suupose every participant at this point is having the same thoughts.

On a nicer note, as jonathan and I are tappering, we are off to the beach to (strange I know) to sit on a sun lounger and swim in the sea (alledgedly what beaches are actually designed for)

Envious in California
Hi Jonathan, and Seppy (whom I have never met - and hello!) Went back to your email to see if the race had started and realize you are but 9 days away and nursing your blisters! You sound in good spirits and fully set on the adventure ahead of you. I am envious to the nth! Great luck to you - or if I have my Irish greetings correct, a hundred billion good lucks to you both!
