Looks quiet? You haven't seen all the Japanese tourists behind me!
We had an initial stressful day in Melbourne (our only day may we add!) trying to sort out accomodation for the grand prix weekend - we had booked with the Claremont Hotel in South Yarra, but they lost our booking and wouldn't do anything for us - yes that's the Claremont Hotel, South Yarra - we do not recommend them! Such a shame after our great Oz Experience trip. As you can see in the picture, we forked out and found somewhere slightly outside of the centre. All good😊

Anyhow, picked up our hire car and headed off out of Melbourne on the Great Ocean Road for a few days - well done Greg for doing all the driving. Lots of beautiful coastline, blue skies and pretty towns, was quite relaxing for a few days. We stayed in some really sweet hostels as well, though someone did steal some of our cashew nut chocolate from the fridge one night, most un friendly - all they had to do was ask!

Saw the 12 Apostles, London Bridge and Cape Otoway Lighthouse, lots of busy bustling photo opportunities.

Then on to Mornington Peninsula for a few days, so quiet, pretty

and relaxing, laid back is too much of an understatement! We toured round the whole peninsula, Greg looking for somewhere, just somewhere to fly his kites, but to no avail. Note to self, do not drive around the quiet highways during dusk to nightfall. We saw more wildlife crossing the road than we had seen during our whole stay in Oz. Quite a scary drive seeing as a Kangaroo could total that little hatchback we hired. We later discovered that locals avoid those roads at night, even in their huge bullbar Utes!

Last day before heading back to Melbourne we did a wine tour. We visited about 4 vineyards in 1 day not that we can remember much about the last one, hic! We have now firmly established that we quite like the chardonnays, but we're not too keen on Pinot Noir, so that's the main issues sorted anyhow. The food in Mornington was really really good as well, top notch restaurants at not a bad price at all, best not get too used to fine dining though, we're supposed to be travellers!

Back to Melbourne to drop the car off - sad to see her go, our

trusty companion, then off out to Williamstown, a boat ride or a train away from Melbourne city centre. Our apartment was lovely - hence the pictures of the hot tub.

The following day we went to the Grand Prix and what an endurance test of heat that was! 51 degrees centigrade on the track, phew! I don't know how we managed it all day, people were wilting left right and centre, but it was amazing! So many fast cars. And yes, he won!
