the beach
Even though i'm still in Palolem Beach, last night i made some 'let's get out of here, even though it's tough' plans. George has decided to stay on the beach until her flight on the 15th, so Jodie is coming with me down to Kerala. Last night we were talking to a lovely Israeli girl, Ayelet (sp?) and she's a lone traveller as well - so we decided we'd make the trip down together! We still have to decide on the exact day, but the plan is the leave sometime in the next week.
Here, the sun is still shining, and the sea food is still fantastic. Had some sea bass yesterday! and some amazingly good (and much needed) banoffee pie for dessert! haven't had any good dessert since I got to India, so that pie really hit the spot!
It was Chris's last day yesterday, so he caught a taxi over to the train station at 10:30 pm to start his 16hour train ride down to Kerala!
You could definitely get stuck on this beach - it's a world away from everything, a universe to itself. Many travellers seem to have stayed here for a long time.

Pete + George
It seems a shame that so many people get stuck here, when India is so diverse, and there's so much to see! Even spending more than a week in Palolem is a bit much! Today I went for a run in the morning, and it was nice to at least get some activity - this lifestyle is definitely not for me. I need to be doing things, and seeing things. Especially when I'm in such a beautiful country! I can't wait to do the backwater tour and see the tea plantations in Kerala. I wonder what the people will be like - it seems every region in India has a specific character. The Goans are so relaxed, enjoying life - even in the busy fishing villages. I've extended my flight to Dec 3 - so I have another month in this great country!

Palolem WARNING
Mona, I got stuck on Palolem beach as well. Word of warning: my drinks were spiked. Crystal meth I believe....in any case, I don't think my episode was an isolated one. Be aware and watch your drinks and tell other backpackers. Cafe del Mar area. If you're interested in my full story: http://mixeye.com/viewpoint.php?vid=24

Are you sure that it was not side effects of anti-malaria medication? Those once-a-week medications (Larium) can give weird side-effects...

...thought of that
I ceased taking Doxycycline (anti malarial) after the first week of my vacation since I thought it was interacting with the alcohol and giving me an 'odd' drunken state. My powerful 3 day episode occurred TWO WEEKS after having stopped the malarial medication....
