Nicky: Hi all, so we have left India now and I can't say that I am too upset. I was starting to come around to its ways but I don't think I could have stayed much longer. To be honest you could have landed me on Mars and I would have loved it after all that India threw at me but I LOVED Hong Kong. It was modern, clean, bright and really good fun. I wish we had a few more days there and could quite easily go back. It reminded me a little bit of London but with more character. We arrived late on Fri (15th) so spent the evening walking along the harbour bit and grabbed some cheap food in the chinese exquivalent of McDs. The fast food over here is amazing to call it a McDs is a bit unfair but anyway.... On Sat we visited the Hong Kong museum which was brilliant and took us several hours to get around (dad, you would have been there for several days there was so much to read!!) and gave a really comprehensive idea of the island from under the different regal dynasties to the hand over in 1997. The best part of Hong Kong though was the Soho area which was full of brilliant restaurants, bars and great food markets. these are the sort of markets where you find fruit, veg and live fish!!!Neil was 'attacked' by one as he tried to get a picture, it jumped out of its crate and was flopping around on the pavement - yuk!! We had found a cute hostel in the shopping district - honestly I didnt know when i booked it, so headed back there for some dinner from the nearest supermarket. It sounds awful but this supermarket was serving fresh breads, pizzas, fruit it was brilliant. It is kind of the way things are done here, all the department stores have great, cheap restaurants in them and the only way to eat during the day is street food. Unfortunately we had to leave really early on Sunday morning but Hong Kong has joined Goa on my list of places to come back to - I think that might get longer though!!

Neil:This is one of the first places that I have let Nicky book the accomodation without any input from me. The Hostel we had was next door to Calvin Klein of Hong Kong and surrounded by numerous other fashion branded shops!! How the hell did she manage to get that past me!

Hong Kong is a really nice city, but not for me. As Nicky said above, it's very similar to London. Not why I travelled around the world! However, it is a special place that captures your attention with its sky scrapers and mountainaous terrain. In contrast to India, it's like coming home. Nobody spitting, throwing rubbish in the street and certainly no urinating at the side of the road. I miss India.
