In early December, Israel & I went to Dunedin but I've been too lazy to write about it til now. I'd been really sick the days before (Omg, sick enough to take time of work!!!1!) so the drive down wasn't fun. When we got to Dunedin we first went to Portobello and got to go behind the scenes again. I took some cool underwater pictures in the rockpool tank.

Then we briefly went to the albatross colony to watch birds from the carpark.

Once we returned to the city, a petrol station attendant mocked me for buying 2 pies (Israel was in the car!) We ate these at the botanical gardens where I once again got to feed the ravenous ducks (We did the same last year on our Stewart Island trip). I love feeding ducks.

The main reason for visiting Dunedin was to go to the newly opened tropical butterfly house at the museum. The temperature was about 30 degrees inside so even I was feeling the heat. The butterflies were quite cool but most looked a bit ragged. The house also contains red eared sliders, goldfish and tarantulas. The best bit was the display of chrysalis as some had butterflies hatching out.

In the morning we visited the Cadbury Factory. It was shit. It was actually incredibly boring. Half the production lines weren't even operating, the other people on the tour were morons, we didn't get a very impressive amount of free samples... Yeah, I fully recommend not doing the Cadbury tour. The the supposedly discounted prices in the factory shop were basically the same as in the Countdown over the road.

On the drive home (we only stayed one night!) we stopped at Moeraki again to see the yellow eyed penguins. We managed to get really close to one that was hiding under some bushes next to the track.

Lastly, we visited some crappy bird park. The cages were tiny and half were empty. The front counter sold food for the animals but most of the birds didn't wanna eat it. One cockatoo tricked me into feeding him before biting me. Then, it laughed. It actually laughed. Such an evil bird. I did get to feed an emu, that was sort of cool.

The end.
