At the top of the Peak
Just a short entry as it was only a short stop in HK.

After a long flight (even longer for the people who were continuing onto Sydney) of 12 hours we arrived in Hong Kong. Public transport's a lot better than Plymouth as well, trains from the air port, regular taxis and a really cheap tram system, going up and down the centre all day.

Got scared by really expensive designer shopping malls, but then we found the busy market streets with their cheap cafes, much more our style.

A nice trip up to the peak pretty much took up the morning, then getting lost in the afternoon in what we think was the financial district (spookily quiet) then we turned a corner and were hit by crowds of shoppers. We finally realised that everyone uses the walk ways in the sky, and the crazy 2km escalator. We only managed half way, far too tempted by the calls of the pubs dotted along the side of the escalator😱. Sure could do with one of those escalators at Tregantle beach!

Why don't they have these in Plymouth? Escalators that go up hills, genius!

escalators
Yes, Jim and I used the escalators when we were in Hong Kong. This was a really cool way to get up and down those "hills". Glad you are having fun! Jacqui Klein
