Something just doesn't seem right about a snow covered palm tree. This is in our neighbor's yard. Earlier someone came through the neighborhood with a long bamboo pole and knocked the snow off the palms along the road.
You've probably been hearing about the catastophic snow falls across China right now. Chinese New Year is next week, the time of year when everyone goes home to see their families. For many migrant workers this is the ONLY time of year they get to see their spouses and children. Millions of people are unable to get home because of the snow storms. It's really very sad.

Our kids have been having fun in the little bit of snow Shanghai received. It was only a few inches, but more than the city has received in at least 50 years. They even had the day off from school yesterday. They thought this was hysterical, since in Pittsford there could be a near blizzard and school would go on.

No shovel? That's ok, a broom will work. But where do you think she's going to put it?

The Chinese ride their bikes everywhere. It's been rough going lately.
