This was a lovely little town in the Pyrenees. In the Basque country.
Well hello! I have no idea how to go about doing a travel blog but hopefully by the time I get back I will be a pro! Thankfully, I'm much more proficient in the travelling department.

Secretly I have a great nostalgia for the old "Poste restante" and am glad that the first time I took to the road, things such as internet, mobile phones and the likes didn't exist. And in many ways, waiting till you got to a major city so that you could collect some post some nice friends but usually your mother had sent. A letter you could hold in your hand and reread and smell the paper that had made it's way to you, all the way from home!

I remember going to the main post office in Bombay (it was Bombay when I was there!), being absolutely overwhelmed by the shear enormity of the place and maybe half an hour to an hour later, emerging with the sacred post, which we squirrelled away to a chai house. Here we took our time, opening those thin airmail letters that you had to fold and lick in a particular way, and were written in tiny

letters so that the writer coulkd get as much news as possible in this letter! Such fond memories!

And now, 16 years later, dare I admit it's been that long? (17 since I first went!) I am returning to India, a place that has always remained in my heart. This time it is for a much shorter time but also a very different experience. For one I shall be travelling with my three year old daughter and the first thing we shall be doing is attending her godfather's wedding in Meerut. Both the bride and groom are dashingly good looking which can only be enhanced by the magical clothes and athmosphere of a Hindu wedding. I, for one, am very excited. Other than being the bride, this is as close as when can get to being part of things!

After the wedding, my aunt Susie, my daughter and myself are going to be going to Nanital where my grandfather was born. It has become a sort of pilgrimage in our heads. We feel the experience is going to be extra special as my grandfather will have his daughter, grandaughter and great-grandaughter visiting his birthplace. It's also quite special

to me as he died when I was one so I've never known hima and it'll be a way to see or feel a piece of me. A piece of my formative jigsaw, one might say!

And then Auntie Susie and ourselves will be parting company and you shall all find out more about our adventures as we go along!! So if you're interested, keep reading!! Send me any comments or whatever else you can do to these blogs, lol!!!

A couple of things

One thing, I've made it private, or at least I think and hope I did. This will make your life a tiny bit more complicated because I think that obliges you to join to read these blogs. So I'm sorry for that but you don't have to give any details out. The reason I've done this is as I'm a bit of a technophobe, I like to err on the side of caution, especially as I'm travelling with my daughter, you never know who reads these things. Any tips or suggestions welcomed!

Next thing I'm going to do is put some photos on this page. I don't know what I'll

This is Libby, Luna's godmother, wearing Luna's t-shirt! And we're pretending it's a hot summer's day in Brighton, hahaha!!! Freezing!!! We went to Libby's wedding in Hong Kong. Should have got Luna more godparents, more excuses for travel, as if we needed any!
put up but they will probably be a bit random. I just want to work out how to post photos!!!

Thank you for your patience. I'll get this sorted faster than Network rail, mark my word!!!!

Good luck with the blog!
So you decided to get into travel blogs too! You shouldn't have, people start expecting things from you.. Like regular updates and stuff! Much better the old way, poste restante, as you mentioned! Nobody expected anything because you never were sure if you would even get a mail and if you got one, it was send a year earlier... Ha, ha, ha... Have fun at the wedding! I missed one unfortunatly, was on the Andaman Islands when it happened... C'est la vie! Ciao, Ralf

Blogs!
I thought I should follow the master!!lol!! I'm wondering how doing travel blogs with a toddler is ever going to work!!! Should be interesting! Couldn't miss this wedding, it's Luna's godfather's! Really needed to get her more godparents!!! Let's see how frequent they really are! I have a feeling you and I are going to cross each other in the air as we go to India, you'll be going to London, non?
