18th January 2008
The main news today is that it did rain, well just a few spots for about half an hour. After that it cleared up and we are back to 28 degrees. It actually feels hotter than that because it is also very humid.
Today Bob and Vern had a boy's day in and mowed the grass and cut the second hedge. Bob enjoys playing with all Vern's big boys toys like driving the tractor or mower. The motorised picking machine though is a bit scary as you can drive it forwards or backwards whilst going up and down to pick the avocado's at a height of 4.5 metres, when Bob was driving it lurched so badly he was convinced it would topple over.
Meanwhile Annette and I had a girls day out and went to Zealandia home and gallery of Terry Stringer, a reknown sculptor and artist. I cannot find words to describe the sculptures and the setting- they were magnificent. I think his web site will do more justice to his work than my words. Annette was particulary taken with one of Terry Stringer's sculptures and Vern has agreed that they should buy it for their 40th wedding anniversary this year.
We are now washing and packing ready to head off to Rotarua tomorrow. Quite a drive of 500 km where we shall visit the hot springs and experience the Moari culture.

Taupo
Hi guys Rotorua is fab but make sure you have a good shower if you jump in a spring as it stinks!!! If you get the chance make sure you stop at Lake Taupo and have a go at the deep lake trout fishing, they cook the fresh fish you catch on the back of the boat which you snack on while downing your sundowner catching the sunset up on the deck. Magic. Enjoy
