Oh dear….what a terrible situation!!!!!

The cabin steward appeared promptly at 8 AM and place some OJ, coffee and a couple breakfast rolls on the dresser in my little sitting area, so I relaxed thinking of how to attack my situation.

After some fresh fruit and another coffee in the Lido, I went to the Pursers Office to fax the British Airways baggage claim form. That was when they realized the extent of my predicament and pulled out all stops.

First, they sent me to the on-board shops where one could rent a tuxedo. In my case, however, they loaned me the jacket, pants, 2 shirts, tie and cummerbund for the entire week. Bringing that down to my cabin, I was met by the Chief Housekeeper who offered all the toiletries I wanted and invited me to someplace where I might find some casual clothes to borrow (I explained that Stuart had pretty much covered all that bit). Backup to the Purser’s office, I was informed that I’d been given a $200.00 credit for clothes purchases in the ship’s shops. They also said that the fax number on the British Airways form didn’t seem to work, but that they had alternative ways of contacting them!!!!!! So, the indifference of yesterday has been more than taken care of.

Remember that we are sailing in tandem with QUEEN VICTORIA, and sure enough, right outside my window this morning….sailing in 12 ft to 15 ft seas was the QV!!! As the captain gave the noon report, he did make some sly references to the fact that we had to go slower than normal because of our new and slower sister as well as the fact that we seemed to be bouncing, rolling and pitching a lot less than the ship less than a ¼ mile away. You could hear the laughter throughout the ship from those who knew exactly what he was talking about.!!!!!

Tonight is the Captain’s Welcome Aboard reception, so I’ll be all kitted out in my borrowed tux, tie and cummerbund. OK, my shoes go more with my suit than the tux, but at least they are mine !!!!!! Stayed tuned for more !!!!!!!
