Cabo airport can be a delay with massive amounts of people coming in at once.
Arrived in Baja around 2:00 PM, a little over an hour late. We came in on the NW flight out of Minneapolis. Customs was somewhat chaotic with a plane load or two ahead of us waiting to be processed. There are two lines of luggage screening, and it takes awhile to get out of there. Bob flew on American Airlines and arrived early so picked us up with the Avis rental van. Hit the highway and pointed north to La Paz. It feels good to be back in Mexico, and this part of Mexico is a stunning mountain/desert terrain. The highway is nice, though there are no shoulders and people drive anywhere from 40 to 80 mph. Meeting semis that hog the road are also somewhat of a thrill!

We are headed for the diving resort of Club Cantamar, which is about 15 minutes northeast from La Paz, near the Ferry Terminal at Pichilingue. Did not see the La Paz bypass to Pichilingue so spent about an hour driving through all the stop lights of La Paz. First impression is that this is authentic Mexico, and we are happy to be here!

Paz to Pichilingue is beautiful. The road hugs the coast, going past many shallow coves with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez. You pass by the wreckage of a semi trailer that obviously took a corner too short and ended up in the sea. That must not have been fun!

Arrived at the resort and happy to be out of the van. Total drive time from airport to resort is about 3 hours. We were given condo number 7, one of the newer two bedroom condos right on the beach. We are very impressed with the size -- must be around 1200 sq. feet. The master suite has a huge bathroom that could easily be a third bedroom.

Downside to this condo: beds are rather hard, pillows are terrible, and the shower in the master quite barely dribbled water and never really got warm. We took of the shower head which solved the problem. The huge plus to this place is the gorgeous location, direct access to a nice boat for snorkeling, huge breakfast included in the price.

Too cold to swim in. Perhaps in the summer it would be nice. It sure looks good -- very deep for dive training.
