Our new hostel in ipanema

Our new hostel is much better then Newton´s rooftop. We share a room with ten other people which takes abit of getting used to but it is much cleaner and the people are really friendly and chilled out. We are told the best way forward is to go out at about midnight when it is cooler, a lot of people went to samba last night but Shane and I gave it a miss because of our budget, we´ll probably give it a whirl tonight though. Rio is strange in the fact that it seems to have little nightlife, very few bars and the clubs seem to be a long way off and therefore require a taxi ride.
Yesterday we went for a walk around a nearby lake which had spectacular views of the christ and then we went to Rio´s botanical garden. It was huge with hundreds of different species of trees, some originating from the amazon.
