Wednesday 2nd Jan 1100hrs Ship Time 1400hrs Home

Well since New Years Eve so much has gone on that had to report now otherwise will not remember all.

During daytime thought we had better take it easy so we stayed on deck in the hot sunshine, charging up our batteries ready for evening. Brenda was the only one that did a bit of exercise in the form of line dancing.

OK the big moment had arrived and after a five course dinner plus cheese and biscuits and coffee, we managed to wobble our way to the theatre for the evening performance. As mentioned previously we were to be entertained by none other than the Bachelors. Not as I remember them, only one original member, John Stokes, but nevertheless they were entertaining. Sung most of their greatest hits, had to save some for their next performance. Now with that over it was party time. Up to the top deck where the music was playing and the booze flowing. As you can see from the pictures, I even got up to dance, mind you I had had a few drinks. Now you may be thinking, who is the other woman I am with, well before you make any assumptions, she was the ships nurse so I was being well looked after. Got to bed at around 0130hrs.

Next morning was up at 0730hrs as we were due to pass Devils Island. Now for a bit of history, so pay attention. Devils Island, so I was told, was a French penal colony started back in the mid seventeenth century. Prisoners were sent there to see out the rest of their lives. In the 50s they stopped sending and eventually closed it as a prison in the 70s. Today it has a hotel there which is used for employees of some kind of rocket station.

The rest of the day we were so tired that we did virtually nothing except meals and of course the occasional drink.

Today we have entered the Amazon River, came through the mouth at around 0130hrs this morning. Not much to see at the moment except bank on either side and very murky water. We will be at anchor at around 1300hrs as the Brazilian Authorities have to come on board and check the ships paperwork.

Tonight more eating, another show and then perhaps some dancing, depends how much I have to drink.

Not that you are too interested at home, but at 0700 this morning temp was 27c and rising but don't feel sorry for us, we will struggle through all this somehow.

Tomorrow we start our tours so will report again then.

Happy New Year
Sounds Tough, but we suppose someone has to do it. We of course prefer to stay in the cold, working our buts off, and staying sober. Each to their own. What is Brenda Holding, and we cant beleive its that big Fred. sure would make me grimace. Big love to next time. xx
