Scorching hot days, wet monsoon days entertained us upon paradise. People here to holiday in unique tranquility. Bars, restaurants, shops, massages, water sports, something for everyone, if only it was closer to home, we’d be here all the time! However maybe that’s a good thing. Christmas time meant accommodation prices were almost doubled, so backpacker’s budget meant cold showers and a fan room (i.e. no hot water or air-con). Unfortunately we reserved our room and paid a deposit, so we couldn’t move to a swimming pool hotel for less money. We discovered that there were more hotel rooms than flight seats!

Days were spent on the soft white sandy beaches, swimming, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, shopping, cycling and drinking freshly squeezed fruit juices and freshly BBQ fish. Generally we were turning browner and browner, slowly toasting both sides when we could bare the heat of the penetrating sun. Swimming in the crystal clear, unbelievably turquoise in colour and so warm, cooled us down. An extra bonus, no litter on the beaches, oil slicks, or fly infested seaweed. Just left us to enjoy our evening’s dinner with sand between our toes, with our gin and tonics watching the sun set.

always found the evenings entertaining, either listening to live music in Charlz Bar or singing our hearts out in the karaoke. We always promised ourselves that we will do ‘something’ the next day. It was so easy for days to simply disappear, with late mornings due to, too much fun the night before! We’d just wonder about absorbing the atmosphere.

After such hectic traveling for 5 months, we needed a holiday, and wow that’s exactly what we had!
