For a second time I went to Parque Cajas, this time on my own. This time I went to its Southern part, a much more wild and remote place. It was incredibly beautiful, with its many, many lagunas. The path was not easy to find, though, and for the first time I absolutely needed the GPS; especially because after about two hours heavy clouds rolled in and one could not see far, so had no landmarks for orientation. In one place, I just could not find the path, as every trace that looked like a path finally ended in nothing. I searched for much over an hour and walked in two large circles (nicely to see on the GPS track on the computer afterwards) until I finally found the path.

Only once I met three other trekkers, who went in another direction. Otherwise I was completely by myself. However, I never felt lonely, just enjoyed the remoteness of the place, the quietness. Now I am back in Quito for a couple of days, and haventĀ“t yet decided where to go next and where to spend Christmas.

2007 Christmas
Dear Sonja, Christmas is coming, I hope you have a nice Christmas in Ecuador. You are never alone, all the friends read your Travelblog, and I love your writing so much. If I don't have my Chinese passport, maybe I'll come to see you. But at the moment I still don't have free for traveling.
