Hello to everyone in the chilly land of snow! Actually, though you may think we've been hanging out on sun drenched beaches, it's actually been chilly and rainy for here for the past few days. The house is really chilly on cold days because it has no central heating, only space heaters and a fireplace.
So we've been getting in the holiday spirit. We set up our el-cheapo Charlie Brownish tree and set to work on an elaborate gingerbread house (Duane wanted to one-up the recipe we found on the internet). It is not yet finished, but I will post a picture when it's done. We were delighted to get some Christmas cards, letters and photos from Tisdale! Thanks!
Duane's signed on to an odd job squad, and so far he has done mostly moving work. Charlotte is still waiting to hear about the support worker job.
Yesterday we checked out a museum with a butterfly exibit. It was amazing! You go inside a mock rainforest with 29 degree temperature and 71% humidity. There are hundreds or living butterflies fluttering around. Some even landed on us! We saw at least 15 different species and you could also see
them coming out of their cocoons. Very neat.
Otherwise we've been taking care of chickens (we've had to confiscate some eggs as they don't want any more chicks). The cats are warming up to us. The one cat, Slinky even whines at our door to wake us up, not for food, but just because she wants to be petted. The only downer is that the internet has stopped working at our place. Oh well.
Duane heeded your advice and went back to his old facial hair-free self!

Holiday Spirit
Just love the last entry regarding butterfllies and holiday spirit. Looks good to see the tree up and can't wait to see the photos of the gingerbread house. The butterfly exhibit sounds totally cool and the pictures are great - also noticed the new profile picture on facebook. It all sounds like great fun!
