We are here!

Our cabin is really lovely, and all our reservations about the facilities were unfounded, as they seem to have thought of everything. There's even a washing machine and drying machine for wet ski clothes.

We were collected by the reps on the first day to go to the welcome meeting, and taken to the "Ski Bistro". They didn't however arrange for us to get back, so we caught the local ski bus into Ruka centre to do some shopping and plan which activities we would like to do. We have decided to try and book they ourselves rather than through Crystal, which acording to the websites was easy. However it has proved a little more challenging than we anticipated, and we have had to ring up some companies and tourist information have not been very helpful.

Despite this, we have managed to book to see Father Christmas on Saturday, as long as Kira is a good girl. Today we have been to a Husky and Reindeer Farm and everyone had a go at driving the sleighs. The huskies were very noisy when we arrived, and incredibly strong. We went for about 2km on the husky sleds and when they set off, they do so at a considerable pace!

We are hoping to go ice skating on the frozen lake tomorrow, and try our hand at ski-ing later in the week. At the moment its snowing hard outside, which means we haven't got much chance of seeing the Northern Lights. It is reportedly going to be colder tomorrow which might improve our chances of a clear night.
