face paint
Don't ask... After blogging last night, I went back to the hotel and foolishly let the girls paint my face with the face paints we bought that day. To say I looked like the Ultimate Warrior on crack would be an understatement.
The next day, we took a trip to the reed islands on Lake Titicaca where around 1,800 of the indiginous indians live on islands made of reeds, funnily enough.
It was quite a bizarre experience - the whole thing is geared towards the tourist industry but the people do still actually live in the same way their ancestors did, only they don't mind having photos taken now and get to sell a load of tat to people like me.
On the island we visited, which was home to 6 families, we got to dress in their traditional clothes, watched a little skit about how they used to trade (which involved a chicken nearly being ripped in two), they sang for us, and we danced (I know, that's three times this trip, a new record surely).
Once back to the mainland, we set off for Cusco. The journey was longer than expected so on arrival we couldn't be
Boat
One of the reed boats we used to get to the islands arsed with our outfits (plus I have a dose of the squits), so just went for food at an English run restaurant. My first fish and chips for some time. Just a shame it didn't stay in my digestive system that long.
