Hi Everyone…………so we are currently in Aguas Caliente, a lush town near Machu Picchu. It´s SO MUCH greener than everywhere we´ve been so far. Nature-wise, it´s our favourite place.

We finished Spanish School in Taray on Friday. While we were there we ate lots of brownies, shopped at the market, went to the salt mines, went to the Pisac Ruins, hung out with the people from school, etc.

We arrived to Ollantaytambo on Saturday afternoon and found a hostel for $3.50 each (cheapest place yet). The ruins there were also pretty cool and IT THUNDERSTORMED!

We arrived to Aguas Caliente on Sunday. The only way to get here is by train. Peru Rail has a monopoly and the roundtrip ticket cost us a whopping $57.00 US. Chloe really likes trains.

We´re spending three days here as we catch a cheap train out tomorrow afternoon. We checked out the hot springs, went to Machu Picchu, and relaxed by the fearce Urabamba River.

Speaking of Machu Picchu. We hiked our way to the top. It was the most difficult hike I´ve ever been on and I am currently exhausted. The climb took us about two hours, and the only other person we saw ascending was a firefighter from Calgary. I´m really glad we did it. We never ended up doing the Inka Trail (you have to book months in advance) or the other trail, but the hike up to the top was pretty cool and was FREE. We took the bus down with the rest of the tourists this afternoon.

We should be in Bolivia in a couple days. Having trouble uploading photos.....will try again tomorrow.
