The Church at Piazza Santa CroceThe Church at Piazza Santa CroceThe Church at Piazza Santa Croce

It is great that there are all these open spaces in the middle of a VERY busy city where you can just BREATHE!
Everything is smaller in Florence! Check out the mini electric buses! Yes, they have normal sized buses as well, but for the shorter and less traveled routes they have these super-tiny buses.

Today we went to the Piazza Santa Croce and the markets at Piazza San Lorenzo. The markets are incredible - so much good stuff! Gus bought his BIG souvenir, a beautiful Italian leather jacket (pics to follow). There are cashmere scarves, intricately printed stationery, leather belts, purses and jackets. All for the picking. We determined that no one really shops in the mornings - that is when most people are just "casing" what's available, but after 2 pm that is when the frenzy begins. Negotiations take place, wallets open, and tourist tromp off with bags of Florentine goodies!

After dropping off the jacket at the apartment, we headed back out and walked for MILES! We walked all over the north side of the river and continued to the Oltrarno side. It was just a beautiful day to be out and about! Enjoy the pics!

Ciao ciao!

It is so small, yet tears around the city like it owns the place!
