So we left Townsville on the ferry to Magnetic Island (having almost got on the wrong one - oops) which is only a 20 minute ride away. The island looked beautiful and we could see our hostel just up the beach from the port. Unfortunately the bus took a magical mystery tour which took half an hour to go 2 mins up the road! But anyway we got there safe and sound, the hostel looked nice and before we checked in we ran into James and Lisa on the beach. We had been planning to meet up as it was Lisa's birthday so it was good to see them. Although they scared us with tales of dirty, noisy rooms..but as it turned out it was just theirs! As we checked in, for the first time something went right! We got a free upgrade! Woo hoo! Didn't know what this meant till we got to our room but as it turns out we had a cabin overhanging the rocks and sea! It was amazing. The room itself had a queen size bed, and two bunk beds! Hmm. We were happy. We decided to ask James and Lisa if they wanted to kip
in our room, get out of their nasty one, as we were going to go out together later they agreed! Later that day we found out about the Full Moon Party, there were supposed to be 1000 people coming to our hostel (it's not that big!) for a dance party thing. AND we HAD to buy a ticket as we were staying there. Gutted.
After a day at the beach (Jon and James snorkelling and running into the sea at high speeds, Fi and Lisa sunbathing with magazines), and a lovely pub meal on the other side of the island (quieter), we returned to the hostel! Or hell as we call it for that night. The music was boom boom boom and likely to continue till 6am. If that wasn't bad enough, the average age looked about 18 (if that) and they had..wait for it..glow sticks! Yes we had woken up in the 80s!! So after an expensive drink from the bar, we cut our losses and went to bed. Luckily our cabin was the furthest away so we managed to get some sleep! The next day, James and Lisa left and we hung out on the beach and
Crazy Ass Bird
We have no idea what these birds are but they are hilarious! They run funny! in the bar. LIke we always say...hard life.
Our next stop was Airlie Beach. This was a few hours further down the coast and despite being called Airlie Beach, there isn't really one..at least not one you can swim on. Too many jellyfish, and the type that can kill you! But it did have an artificial lagoon (big swimming pool) so we spent some time there, we were pretty much the only adults but we managed to fit in as Jon threw Fi in again and again! Fi loved it and always came up laughing! Oh yeah and we also did a few handstands! We were like little kids again, but resisted the floaty tube things! Our hostel here 'Backpackers by the Bay' was great, nice room, clean kitchen and a pool table (where for the first time Fi ALMOST won!). The day we were leaving our bus wasn't till midnight so we checked out, stuck our bags in lockers in town, and wandered round...all day! It was to be a long day but we were saved when by chance we bumped into Lisa and James just back from Sailing. So we spent the hours before our bus in

Some randoms got in the photo.. the bar 'Beaches' with them! Great!
The next place we were supposed to go was Great Keppel Island. But in true Fi and Jonny form we changed our plans. Sooo, after spending 6 hours on one night bus, we arrived at Rockhampton. Sorry for anyone who lives there but this was by far the worst place we've ever been! What a hole. So after deciding last minute not to go to Great Keppel (a combination of missing the bus to the ferry, Fi being scared there would be bugs there, and sheer laziness) we set about changing our plans. We were supposed to be spending four nights there so we divided them between some of our next few stops, rang hostels to change bookings (luckily not a problem!) and change bus times. Unfortunately our bus out of Rockhampton (originally not for four days) was another night bus...this meant spending the whole day in the pit of the earth Rockhampton. Obviously, we couldn't sleep, but we managed to store our bags in lockers at th bus stop and spent the next 17 hours wasting time. NOT fun. By the time we got to Hervey Bay, and into our room the
Fi enjoying the balcony
She did put trousers on before we went in public! next morning we hadn't slept in 50 hours! We were even too tired to be grumpy.
After a few hours kip, we pulled ourselves out of bed and had a look round Hervey Bay. This so far is Jon's favourite place! The hostel 'A1 Fraser Roving' was brilliant, really clean, great bar, nice pool, and really friendly staff, best hostel yet by far! As so far we were dissapointed by our tan, we decided this would be the place to sunworship! Worked a treat. It was nice to be by the pool for a few days! This was partially due to the fact that Fi had been bitten AGAIN!!! As we were in civilisation this time we went to the pharmacist who said that it looked like sand flies...who don't bite, they pee on you! Yuck. Fi was allergic to them so came out pretty bad. It was also here we went to watch the rugby quarter finals, although Fi was warned by Jon about cheering when England did well! This was mainly due to the fact that the bar was full of Australian bikers! Scary huge men with beards and jackets! Fi kept quiet! We left sharpish when
the final whistle went! The next morning we left for Noosa.
The guy from the hostel in Hervey Bay had told us he hated Noosa, it was full of Yuppies and really snobby. Driving in to Noosa we thought it looked great. Does this mean we are snobs?! The buildings were lush, and the place looked classy instead of dumpy. It is set mainly on the river banks, and we had to get the shortest ferry ride ever (max 30 seconds!) to get to the North Shore where our resort was. The resort itself is set over quite a large area, and basically three of the apartments have had bunk beds put in them, so the facilities are the same as for all the 'regular guests'. We are the only 2 in a four dorm, so we even have our own bathroom. The other dorm in the apartment has now got 4 people in it who share our kitchen/living room but they are nice so it's fine. The resort also has wild roos jumping about, but they are so used to humans that they will come looking for food off you, and you actually have to walk round them
Airlie Beach lagoon
These fake pools seem to be everywhere! to get past! Jon's new best mate is Bubba in reception (see pic) who he visits daily! Jon has taken to walking round with her on his arm! She loves it...tart! The other funny thing (Mum you'll love this) is the ducks using the swimming pool as a pond! And Jon went swimming in it! Ew duck poo. The only bad thing to happen only this morning is that someone has nicked Jon's towels which were out to dry. He's not a happy bunny as he now has none!
That's it for now, as always leave your comments! Hope you like the new pics!
Lots of Love,
Jonny & Fi

Curlew
I do believe the bird is called a curlew. Magnetic Island is one of the main places they live. If you heard haunting sounds during the night.. It was them.
