However we probably are going to change the itinerary slightly. Instead of going to Perth we now want to fly into Cairns, using our internal Australia flight to get down to Brisbane, and then fly out of Adelaide. Or the other way round! Unfortunately we are probably going to have to pay a small admin fee to do this!

The reason behind this is because with Australia being the most expensive destination on our itinerary, Perth, being so isolated really was complicating things, meaning we were going to have to much more Overlanding, as our internal flight was being used up by getting from east to west! Its unfortunate as I have got (sort of) links in Perth, but if it keeps the cost down and keeps things a bit simpler, its a worthy compromise.

Now its time to plan in a little more detail what we are going to do/where stay etc. We are looking to possibly hiring a campervan in New Zealand, hence it would act as both our transport and accommodation!

Maybe too late but...
might be worth you checking out Virgin Blue flights or Jetstar for cheap internal flights in OZ then you won't have to change your tickets...
