Hola

We are now in our second week of Spanish school and it is going really well. We have learned some basic conversational Spanish and are loving the socializing that comes with so many backpackers getting together in one place. Our school is really great for meeting people because most of the students have come to Peru by themselves for intensive Spanish language and volunteer courses so they are really excited to meet other travellers. It is awesome because everyone is from all over the world, so it makes us want to travel to all these other places.

Besides our socializing, we tried to fit in lots of sight-seeing in Cusco, since who knows when we will be back there again. We saw this amazing Inca museum, a Dominican monastary and some totally ornate churches. The food in Cusco is also really amazing, there is a chocolate shop there that has the best truffles we have ever tasted! We have also been trying to eat some of the local delicacies. I tried fried cuy (guniea pig) which pretty much tasted like chicken wings and alpaca. The school also offers salsa classes so we went out to a salsa club and attempted some crazy moves.

After a week and a half in Cusco, we decided it was time to move on. We are now in a small town called Taray, where the school has a house. It´s much warmer than Cusco, since it is a a lower elevation, so we have been suntanning in the afternoons. It is really close to the town of Pisac, which has an amazing market. It is really peaceful here and the small group of students who came here for the week are awesome. Today after class we hiked up to salt mines that pre-date the Incas. They were beautiful, like nothing we have ever seen. After our week in Taray we are thinking of heading to Macchu Pichu to see the ruins and then towards Puno and Lake Titicaca. Hope everything is well in Canada! Happy early Thanksgiving!
