Commie running through Budapest
They have a park full of the old pinko statues that were removed from the streets of Budapest. Why is it that the Poles are smiling, friendly and happy all the time? The weather is godawful and it is Drizzleville, Tennesee. It is like being in a black and white film or the colour-turned-down dystopia of Twelve Monkeys. Maybe it is because they invented vodka. The country is an oasis of helpfulness in a desert of miserable sods.
Since my last blog I have been to Budapest, back to Prague and now I am in Krakow, Poland.
Budapest was nice and sunny and the old city of Buda is an arty photo in every direction you look - a contrast to the junky-filled section of Pest I experienced as a welcome as I walked out of the train station.
Kutna Hora is just an hour from Prague. They have the weirdest thing I have ever seen there - the Ossuary. The bones of 40,000 people arranged to make chandeliers, a coat of arms and some other bizarre stuff.
Before I decided to pop back to England (because I thought I had left the oven on in the kitchen of my love life), I had agreed to meet my folks in Prague on the way around.
Vodka love
This is a normal size bottle, just a very small man. As I saw them when I went home anyway, there didn't seem too much point. And then of course, I had this visa thing, so I dragged them here for a few days anyway and they loved the place.
I told them that it was warm here and that I was wearing only a jumper. One week later they arrived but the arse had fallen out of the temperature in the meantime so their plane was delayed for 2 hours while the Czech airlines pilot genned up on how to land on a ice rink. Every now and then I heard a not too subtle dig about my crap weather forecasting. Suffice to say, bits were being frozen off all around.
Now I have fresh visas for Russia and China, so I had better get my arse in gear and head that way.
