Where I liveWhere I liveWhere I live

My room is the first window on the left out of the series of three windows. The Speech and Language Department is housed in the adjoined building on the second floor.
I have figured out how to upload pictures so that's mostly what this entry will be...it'll take me a while to get them all loaded on here and by then, I'll be out of time.

There has been one new development though and it is that I am moving!!!!! I met with a girl called Claire last night after I got home from London and I think it's going to work out alright. I'll have my own room with shared use of the lounge, kitchen, and bath. Still just a bathtub, but at least it has the little attachment for a shower head. Very exciting, indeed! I'll move and be in 1 October. Yea!

I also have a temporary mobile phone that one of the women I work with lent me (it used to be her son's) until I can get my own set up. Email me if you want the number and I'll try to send it to you. :-)

I've taken pictures of the outside of my new place and today I went to Forty Hall as part of the London Open House so I'll put pix of those up as well. But I have to

This is my room. Not very homey yet, but getting the duvet was a big step in the right direction.
load pictures onto MY computer, transfer them to jumpdrive, go to library and then get them onto the site....probably won't happen until at least tomorrow. Cheers!

You've seen it all now! The only other piece of furniture that really wasn't pictured was my closet/cupboard/wardrobe. Don't actually know what to call it. My bookcase is inside it for all my clothes.

A fridge of this size is the standard in England. I haven't yet tried to use the stove because it's gas and I would have to light it with a match.

Linda and Lori: I couldn't decide which one of you should get the beautiful necklace with the white flower and purple accent stones....there were definite other choices though that I saw and immediately thought I should get for you! ;-)

While Amy and Kevin were here, we went to Harrod's and were able to see the Diana/Dodi memorial--it's on the underground floor at the bottom of the Egyptian Escalator. The Al-Fayed's own Harrod's which is why the memorial is there.

There is a canal system in place throughout the borough of Enfield and I took this shot as I walked home from work on Thursday.

Friday night I went into Covent Garden for Kerri's leaving do and we went to the Punch and Judy Pub. Very non-descript, but the home of Punch and Judy nonetheless.

Yesterday, I went on a walk and was able to get this great picture...look how sunny it was? That has changed as of this morning.

This weekend was the London Open House and also the Thames Festival. I took advantage of being able to go to the Tate Modern Museum and also just walking along the Thames. This was a group of performers that played non-stop all afternoon in Hay's Galleria. Very cool!

Just after I took this picture of the Eros Statue in Picadilly Circus, two ladies approached me to see if I could help them find Eros. As politely as possible, I let them know that they were there and that the statue was, in fact, Eros. I guess that makes me a true Londoner if people are approaching me for assistance.
