Paraty itself
It's been a while, so apologies.

After my last post we spent our final night in Rio. Had a fairly quiet one, pizza and a couple of beers then an early night (after Billy and I watched Failure to Launch in the hotel - a truly shocking film).

The next day was an early ish start, we were on the road at 9, heading south from Rio along the Costa Verde, to a town called Paraty, along with seemingly the rest of the Brazilian population since the traffic was pretty much at a standstill.

Paraty is a very pretty town, quite European in its appearance, and this weekend there was a festival on (think it may have been something to do with independence, but independence from whom I'm not sure), so the place was packed with Cariocas down from Rio for the weekend. That said, it was actually pretty tame, I was expecting the Notting Hill Carnival but instead got the Danson festival.

We also went on a boat trip yesterday, there are some great beaches on the Costa Verde which you can't get to any other way. The boat, like the rest of Paraty, was packed,

Me and my new best friend. He's better looking than Bowzer too.
and even worse, the captain played James Blunt over the stereo for us Brits. I was truly touched.

Done bugger all today, other than scratch my multiple mosquito bites. Should really buy tat for people back home at some point (that means you) but can't be arsed at the moment. Will probably just buy it all at Quito airport on the way home.

Have a 2 day drive ahead of us tomorrow and Tuesday, but will be back soon...

The company
Sounds like everything is going ok. Are you joking about one of the party being from Bexleyheath? Do you know if it's going to be the same guys staying in until Quitto?
