Jaipur is Rajastans capital city and is one of the most developed cities we have seen. The western influence is clear for all to see, through peoples clothes, shop names and what they sell, and the design of the buildings.

Arriving in the evening we drove to the top of the Narahgarh Fort to watch the sun go down and the city lights spring to life. We ate in a garden restaurant where we were privileged to watch a family perform a traditional Indian dance and fire breathing.

After climbing the Amber Fort we were greeted by amazing views as always. As we left the fort we were stopped by the police who claimed our car produced too much pollution, even though our car was the same as 50 others! (clearly he just wanted to be bribed and a 100 rupees (approx 1.20) soon set us on our way again)

We took the title as flashpackers again as this time we dined at the famous OM Tower, a five star revolving restaurant that served up delicious Indian cuisine albeit vegetarian. Its 56m high into Jaipurs skyline and took a total of 45minutes to do a full rotation.

The following day we were bribed again by the police, this time for trying to cross a red light. In the City Palace the paintings and architecture were amazing. It is largely a blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. Its bright and colourful nature made it one of the best kept palaces weve seen.

We saw the Birla Mandir Temple made of magnificant white marble. It was set amongst greenery and had beautifully carved ceilings and pillars. There were a few school trips and the children seemed to take a keen interest in us, again we were the only white people. The children here are really cute.

In the evening we had drinks with Ajay and some Nepalese guys in the basement of the hotel. It was a fun night as we got a litte tipsy and had arm wrestles.
