Edit Blog Post

So last night we went to a concert performed by some orchestra in Berlin. I couldnt quite figure out whe group was, but it was pretty amazing. I am going to take pictures of that square at some point and post them on my blog bgecause it is simply amazing. There are thise too "Dom"s on either side (that is what they call smaller cathedrals around here, particularly ones with round roofs) One is Lutheran and the other Catholic, though both have been renovated after the war and are now museums. They are amazing on the outside, though not particularly exciting on the inside. Howeve,r the Konzerthaus where the "Konzert" was, is amazing. it is this 18th century neoclassical building that is absolutely magnificent. It has these huge pillars in front and a million statues on teh roof and every inch of it just spells MAGNIFICENT. Then on the inside of it, the concert hall itself is simply dazzling. There is almost not a single bit of wall taht is not inlaid with some sort of design or bust or sculpture or gold.

We listened to two pieces, one by mozart, which was pretty good (i mean, its mozart, you cant really go wrong with him. i have to admit though that for all of his musical genius, i am not teh biggest fan of his music. it is very nice and all, but a little bit too controlled for me.) The second piece was Sinfonie 6 by Hartman (20th century german). It was definitely a modern piece, without a particularly discernable or 'melodic' melody and lots of dissonance, but I really, really liked it, Afterwards it was one of the girls in the programs birthday so we all went out to some random restaurant and had something to drink or eat (mainly drink, thoguh it was a light night and i dont think anyone had mroe than one). it was really nic eto hang out with nearly the whole group. Even a few of the reculses came out and I got to know them a little better, which was really nice.

Things continue to go well here and I am settling in nicely and improving my German quite a bit. There is so much to learn and get to know. I hope that you are all doing well too.
