tambua sands resort.
dear everyone, last week i booked myself a getaway to a resort in sigatoka(pronounced"singatoka")and i've decided if i was to live anywhere in fiji this small city would be it.it is surrounded with lush green forest and hills in one side and long streches of white sandy beach on the other.there are lots of small native fijian villages along the beach area where i'm sure my family could blend in quite easily.

the resort was called tanbua sands and the only people there were couples and seniors on their retirement vacation.i booked myself a cheap studio loft but got upgraded to a beach front bure."flutter power".
my room was so cute and it faced the beach.i saw some fijians in the open water fishing with spears and diving for the fish.

i read my book by the pool and had way too many fiji bitters to pass the time before the firewalking ceremony.
the firewalkers were dressed in the grass skirts and i was surprised to see so many kids from the village there as well.the chief did a prayer and all the walkers came out one by one and stood on the hot stones.
f.y.i did u know that

could u imagine waking up and seeing this in the morning?
the firewalkers can't sleep with their mates for two weeks before the ceremony and if u are an expectant father u can't be in the ceremony.
next came the kava ceremony, the cheif sat around and said some prayers and presented the kava to a guest(some guy from england).
then the kids served it to any one who wanted to try some.but u had to get up and come sit around the circle and have them serve it to u.i'm bringing some with me and i'll have a kava ceremony soon.you're all invited.
the next day i took the bus back to lautoka and chilled for a couple of days before getting ready to go to Suva, the capital.raju had some meeting in suva so his wife and i went along.Suva looks like hawaii on a smaller scale,it rains there all the time.it also has two of the oldest prisons in fiji.we arrived there around 700pm and got our rooms and went to dinner.
the next day we went shopping and drove back to lautoka.

today i'm going back to say goodbye to bijju and the village.i have mixed emotion on the whole trip there but i know i have to

my own little place to spend the night.
go back and say goodbye to my house.i have to say good bye to the mango tree until i return again with my family.
i will have one more blog and then it's time for me to come home my friends.love u all...vee
p.s.suzanne i managed to find some men for u.they were hard to pin down but eventually they gave in.ha ha ha.love v.
