47 degrees Celsius!! The heat wave that graced us with it's presence through out our holiday was nicely timed but also just bearable on a couple of days when it reached that heat. Spent so much time in the crystal clear Aegean Sea to cool off we almost grew gills. The sun sets were a welcomed relief from the heat also the Mythos lager, cocktails, souvlaki, Greek salads and endless shots of Raki (nasty stuff - but great) supplied by Mitsos restaurant staff channelled our way to an unconsious state on the beach loungers. Apparently there were several attempts to wake us. The hospitality was fantastic; the Greeks really looked after us and made for a great start to our holiday.
Santorini (Thira) is an amazing Greek island. Houses and hotels perched on a cliff. We hired a quad bike for a day at 30 euro’s and burned around the whole island, great fun, the only way to see Santorini. Getting from Thira to Marmaris was like the amazing race, waiting for ferry cancellation tickets, rude Canadians trying to push in front of us and then racing from Rhodes airport to Rhodes port to make a ferry on time, thanks to our friend Esma for being so popular and having all the right contacts we managed to get tickets reserved for us as we literally ran from the taxi.
Marmaris ,Turkey was very lush and tropical, not quite what we had expected. Great beaches. 30 metre crystal clear water visibility. Had such a good time here, it consisted of eating durum kebab’s, drinking efes lager, sea swimming, sun bathing, Turkish bath, 4 wheel drive safari, Turkish night out and smoking sheesha with apple tobacco. And trying to convince every one that SMF aka Dr Dan was not Turkish or even Kurdish, Murkmahamad shaklama said “why you not admit it, you should be proud that you are Turkish”.
Back to London, car bombs and rain.

So jealous of your Mediterranean/Aegean experience, but glad you had such an awesome time. I'll be in Cyprus in three weeks, which makes it easier to stomach. And then I can see you guys... R
