Hi from Hollywood

G'day G'day! Today we've experienced the bright lights of Hollywood...well, more like smoggy lights. We did get a quick glimpse of the famous sign on our way into LA from Anaheim...and Michael Moore was right...you can hardly see it due to all the pollution. This would have to be one of the smoggiest towns we've been to...and we haven't been to many yet, but we've still had a good day.

It has been difficult adjusting to a normal sleeping routine...as I type, Iz is lying in bed asleep beside me. It's 8:18pm, and he's been out for about 1 and a 1/2 hours now. I'm even worse, and have already napped, so now I'm ready to go. We'll probably grab a late snack, as the sun isn't going down here till quite late...around 8pm. This is also making it hard to adjust...but we'll get there. We might still be catching up on sleep from the plane.

So, back to Hollywood. We arrived at the hotel around 11:30am and they already had our room ready...GREAT! The Hollywood Celebrity Hotel is in a prime location - you just walk about 500 metres and you're at the walk of fame. It's also in a very quiet cul-de-sac which is nice, as there have been some intersting sights since we arrived. I don't think I would walk around certain places at night.

We pretty much dumped the suitcases (which are fab - everyone should get some spinners) and headed to the walk. A lot of the stars were completely unrecognisable to me, but there were some cool ones - Jimi Hendrix, Kermit the Frog. We made our way down to the Wax Musuem, which is nowhere near as good as Madame Tussauds. Still, it was a laugh! If those models are based on the actual people, then Tom Cruise is a total short arse! The House of Horrors was looked at very quickly, but I did manage to get through it...totally not my cup of tea.

After that, we crossed the road to the Guiness Book of Records - and made our way through a host of useless, but fun information. Did you know that the tallest motorbike is 11ft, 3 inches? Or that the loudest registered snore hits 90 decibels - that's loud! After that, we caught bus 217 down to the Farmer's Market...a cool little place to grab a bite and look at some shops.

Tomorrow, we board another 2 buses, and head out to Venice Beach, via Beverly Hills and the Santa Monica Pier, so it will be a big day! On our last day here, we want to check out the La Brea Tar Pits...a living, breathing fossil excavation site...where they have bubbling pits of tar and dig up Sabre Tooth Cat bones...sounds cool. If you haven't been brave enough to write us a comment, just wanted to let you know, only we can see them. Hope to hear from you all again soon...ciao xx
