Auckland and a mild kiwi rant.

I know that in previous posts I said that I didn't feel stuck in Auckland and that I actually wanted to be there. I have to say that I definitely do regret not leaving it sooner to see more of the country during the summer months. I think I would be far more satisfied with my trip if I would've seen and done more while it was summery and sunny. Mainly I think I'm missing not getting more beach time and more sunny photos. That's just the way things are though and I continue to tell myself that if it wasn't for the past, I wouldn't have the present and my future would be totally altered. I'm content with what I've got now. Even though I'm in the same living and working situation, life continues to change frequently and so quickly it sometimes nearly knocks me off my feet (in a good way).

I think I'm losing my Canadian a bit and gaining some Kiwi. I saw "Sweet Ass" somewhere and it looked and sounded wrong. Matter of fact it still does... It's "Sweet As"! As in, "Sweet as bro!" I can't say "sweet ass" it really really sounds wrong! I remember when I first arrived here "sweet as" was sooo strange, I couldn't wrap my head around it. Also I think some words like Rubbish instead of Garbage, Toilet instead of Bathroom, Lift instead of Elevator... Uh... and I don't really like the American accent... it doesn't sound natural. I much prefer the Kiwi, the English or the Irish. The absolute greenery and birds mixed in with cold and snow hasn't seemed to phase me. Oh! A long time ago I forgot some of the brands that were in Canada. So some of the brands here, I don't know for sure whether we have them there. I think I'm more familiar with food brands here than I ever was with Canadian ones. Drivers on the right side of the car and driving on the left side of the road is totally natural. The weird kiwi guy haircut that's half mohawk half mullet is actually growing on me. Even scarier, "the buckle" is growing on me. Oh god... that revelation is really making me think I'm turning Kiwi... I seem to be thinking like one.

Turning Kiwi
It is so awsome to turn kiwi, rather that than american. I picked all the slang too when I was there and it took me years to lose it. Even now I will I will say 'Yur all right mate' and get a funny look. I love having that unique slang it makes everything more interesting.

it's all good...
Just to make you feel better, when I spent my super-packed couple of weeks in NZ it was summer and I remember wishing I'd gone in spring or fall so that the grass was greener and prettier, or even winter so that the mountains were snowier. And yet I saw a lot of really great things and experienced plusses to being there when I was, too. The point is, I think everyone wishes that some part of their trip was different because whether we have 2 weeks or a full year, it's never enough to see and do exactly what we'd like. That's the downside of travelling I guess... haha, leave it to a Canadian to be able to complain about everything!! Enjoy turning kiwi... just don't turn too far and forget to come back North! Later.
