Almost an entire day on the airplane and a long and confusing subway ride (I tried to go through one of the gates once and it didn't like my ticket or something and a guy had to come over and fix it. I'm a tool. Also I still don't quite understand the ticket machine but I pushed buttons until it worked. Then it turned out to be rush hour on the subway--think TTC rush hour x1000, only you don't need to hold anything to stay standing it's so crowded. I had my luggage. I thought someone would beat me up.)--It all leaves me disoriented, to say the least. I've checked in to my hostel and it's really nice here... All is well. Maybe the whole "I don't speak any Japanese whatsoever" thing could be more of an issue than I thought, or a handicap, at any rate. Haven't taken any pictures yet (It's raining) and I'm not sure I can upload them from here anyways...
Oh and coming through security on the way out of my plane was a bitch. The lady who had to examine my passport and little disembarking form dealy took an especially long time--probably because holding
the equivalent of over 1000 CAD in cash to pay for my hotel and train ride is suspicious. I got stopped at customs and they went through all my stuff thinking I might have drugs or a sword or a grenade launcher or pet lizard or something. Didn't do that to anyone else. And then the moment I left that party and went downstairs to the train I got stopped by a police officer who made me fill out a survey to make absolute sure I wasn't a terrorist. *sigh*.
I'm going to go find somewhere to eat dinner soon. It's just past 7:00pm here, and I have no idea what time it is anywhere else.
Oh and the cell defs doesn't work here or network swap like I thought it might so don't bother.
I'll post again in a day or two.
Peace out.
